Searching and filtering in ProsperWorks may seem like similar actions. Both allow you to narrow down a list of records. But there are differences in the use case and functionality, which we'll explore in this article.

The difference between search and filters

Filters let you create a list of records that meet a common value. Search lets you find a single record based on a particular value.

    Why are there only 3 parameters by which one can search? From a user perspective it makes no sense, especially for a product allying itself so closely with Google. I can't search notes or descriptions, so if I want to find every mention of, say, "Oahu," I can't. Please create a more useful and global search function.

    Agreed with the comment above. If I am running a lead campaign based on addresses I have no way of searching the address directly only the 3 parameters that you have provided?! If you are piggybacking on Google the search functionality should mirror the partners' that you have aligned with. Filtering can be a useful tool only if you are looking for groups, not specific lead details. Please fix this function or your lead tool is useless to our organization.

    I also agree with Luke's comment. It is a very important feature to be able to search a specific word on all the fields of the CRM database. Any idea when can we expect a more adequate search function?

    I have a custom field called, "Region" so I can (thought I could anyway) sort by say, "Northeast". When I'm within people view I assumed that when I sorted by Region it would be it in alphabetical order. Needless to say, it doesn't. Am I missing something here?

    Agree. Wish we could filter on Title, too.

    Searching by notes is critical, critical, critical!!!!!!! I am deciding between using Prosper Works, Nible and Insightly to name a few. Only thing that has me considering Prosper Works is the email and Calendar integration. What is keeping me from moving forward is Search Function primarily and then the Contact management is the weakest of the others, compared to Insightly for example love how you enter notes, can be with a title and you can name the photo you attach to a note!

    Wanted to add if you feel that you need to search a contact it appears you can by note in description section

    Ron, I have to recommend that you go elsewhere. I've been asking for this search function for too long. I was an early adopter of PW that even gave an endorsement on one of their pages, but they've totally let me down. I'm trying to switch to Insightly, but getting the bulk of my data (especially the notes) out of PW is difficult. PW started as cool company with an interest in customer service. They've very quickly evolved into one that's the same as any other big corporation that *says* they care what you think but clearly don't.

    heh Luke, yes I talked to them last year about the note searching as well and nothing. However if you put a note in description it will show up in a search!! Not ideal but key things about the client can bring it up. Been playing with Insightly and much better search and note taking and more features but is lacking in the email and calendar as they have to sync so when you write and email from insightly not many features, so you would have to go back and forth between the two, so Prosper has it beat in email... I may give Prosper a try, notice that my contacts in prosper done show in folder in gmail, maybe because free trial? going to see how tech support works monday if they take calls or not
